Zegris Interpretation: Imagine the AI that created this painting wasn’t simply a program dedicated to creating paintings. Imagine an autonomous AI (or robot) whose primary function is dedicated to becoming more human, adding to its knowledge base by researching, watching, and mimicking human behavior. However, having knowledge is only one part of the equation of executing an action or behavior. It would require an AI smart enough to augment its own code to apply new knowledge in new ways that mimic human behavior, continually learning and growing. One can imagine the biggest challenge (for an AI like this) would be to understand and mimic human emotion, as well as finding ways to express it. In this painting I see an AI attempting to portray a painter painting in the country. I see that it is excellent at painting the non-human elements (like the trees and sky) but has not yet perfected the human elements. There is beauty in imperfection. We all have struggles in our lives and none of us are perfect in our endeavours. Which is why I admire and see beauty in the imperfection of an AI attempting to mimic the old masters. It's a very human behavior.
